I fully comprehended what it means by, '人总是失去了才知道珍惜'.
Today,
I thought I have lost my engagement ring
It dawned upon me this morning that I haven't worn my engagement ring for quite a while. I tried looking for it and thought it weird that it was no where to be found. Didn't think much about it as we were in our usual morning rush to work.
The thought about my ring kept coming back to me in the day. Came home this evening and 1st thing I did: FIND MY DIAMOND RING!!!
I combed the entire house frantically... searched the jewelery box; the sink area; the study table; my jeans' pockets; coffee table... ALL my bags that I remember using for the past week... and no ring! This is bad... (For those who don't know, I lost my wedding band when I was holidaying in U.S in June... =o)
I went for a jog, hoping to clear my mind and think through carefully on the possible places I might have left my ring. Throughout the 30mins jog, I was praying that God would bring to my remembrance on where I left it.
Halfway through the jog, I vaguely remembered that I had taken it off and placed it in my bag organizer, together with my watch when I went for massage last wed! I recall taking my watch out from the organizer but no recollection of the ring.
I almost 'died' on the pavement, at the thought that I could have dropped the ring at the massage place or along the way.
When I reached home, I searched through my bags over and over again but there was still no ring!!!
Thoughts ringing through my head at that moment: Should I tell Mok? How could I have let him down... He had searched hard for this ring that he thought would be perfect for me. It signifies his love and commitment towards us! What have I done or not done!?!!!
I was almost on the verge of crying and I searched the organizer bag once again.. checking every single compartment. And when I put my finger into the last small pocket (for the 5th / 6th time), I felt something hard and circular... .... ....
There it was, staring back at me...
No words can express my thankfulness and relief. I was like groaning in sheer relief and kissed my ring like 10 times (think I even apologized to it for my carelessness) and I immediately kept it safe in its box.
Emotional roller-coaster ride man!!
Can anyone understand my gratitude and joy?
Side reflection: Lord, perhaps this is just a small percentage of how you feel when your children choose to return back into your embrace?
